My name is Keely Greiner (she/her/hers), a senior in the Honors Program on the pre-med track. I am pursuing an individualized major that I have named Health Systems and Disparities, focusing on illness experience, healthcare law and economics, epidemiology, and gerontology. I wanted a personalized and practical education to prepare me for my work as a physician, possibly in geriatrics and palliative care, in the future. I am also pursuing a minor in Asian Studies and am a Masters of Public Health FastTrack student. Additionally, I am a certified EMT.
When the U.S. enacted its initial quarantine in spring 2020, my planned exchange program to Tokyo, Japan, was canceled and I instead started volunteering at an emergency shelter for homeless COVID-19 patients. This led me to my current job as a PCT/CNA on the telemetry unit at Middlesex Hospital. I have been there for over a year now and it has been an incredibly stressful yet enriching experience. Before asking me for any stories, please let me know how strong of a stomach you have. Also, I have a passion for puns and dad jokes. You have been warned.
