Allopathic Medical (MD) Schools

According to AAMC data from the 2022 Application Cycle, the acceptance rate for applicants to allopathic medical school was about 45%. For the 2022 cycle, there were just under 50,000 applicants and almost 21,000 matriculants.

  • The average GPA for applicants to MD schools in the 2021 cycle was a 3.59; in the 2022 cycle the average GPA was 3.62
  • The average GPA for matriculants to MD schools in the 2021 cycle was a 3.74; in the 2022 cycle the average GPA was 3.75
  • The average MCAT score for applicants in the 2021 and 2022 cycles was a 506
  • The average MCAT score for matriculants in the 2021 cycle and 2022 cycles was 512

Osteopathic Medical (DO) Schools

According to AACOM data from the 2020 Application Cycle, the rate of applicants that enrolled in osteopathic medical school was about 36%. For the 2019 Application Cycle, this percentage was slightly higher at 40%. For the past five cycles there have been around 20,000 - 22,000 applicants to DO schools, with enrollments gradually increasing from around 7,000 to now over 8,000.

  • The average GPA for applicants to DO schools in the 2020 cycle was a 3.46
  • The average GPA for matriculants to DO schools in the 2020 cycle was a 3.54
  • The average MCAT score for applicants in the 2020 cycle was a 503
  • The average MCAT score for matriculants in the 2020 cycle was a 504

Dental Schools

According to ADEA data from the 2020 Application Cycle, the rate of applicants that enrolled in dental school was about 57%. For the 2019 Application Cycle, this percentage was slightly less at 56%. For the past five cycles there have been around 11,000 - 12,000 applicants to dental schools, with around 6000 enrollees each cycle.

  • The average GPA for applicants to dental schools in the 2020 cycle was a 3.44
  • The average GPA for enrollees to dental schools in the 2020 cycle was a 3.58
  • The average DAT AA score for applicants in the 2020 cycle was a 19.7
  • The average DAT AA score for enrollees in the 2020 cycle was a 20.8
