What are some meaningful extracurricular activities that you were involved in while at UConn?

I was involved with the University Scholars program, Panhellenic Council, and Alpha Zeta Omega Pharmaceutical Fraternity.

What did you do during your growth year(s) and what did you learn?

After finishing undergrad, I moved to San Jose, CA and taught elementary special education through Teach For America. I taught for an additional year in San Francisco after my two-year commitment with Teach For America ended. I was able to partner with teachers, students, and families to determine learning plans that work for each student. I was also able to gain insight into the inequities present in education, and see the parallels of those same issues within healthcare.

What are some ways that you take care of your mental health and overall wellbeing?

I like to go for walks, intentionally keep up with friends who may be far away, and leave campus.

What advice do you have for aspiring pre-health students?

Participate in activities you enjoy and explore areas outside of healthcare that you are interested in before going into your respective health school. You do not have to rush to get into graduate school.
