Why did you choose to pursue a career in healthcare?

Lifelong intellectual engagement during work and self-directed learning. The privilege of having someone entrust their health to you and providing solutions for them. The opportunity to teach or research if desired. The doors which open up when branching out in your career.

What were some meaningful extracurricular activities that you were involved in while at UConn?

Taekwondo, Art club, and research

What were some challenges you have faced along your healthcare journey so far, and how have you overcome them?

Learning how to work with different personalities and knowing my own personal limits. Overcoming difficulties and making peace with outcomes that aren't ideal knowing I've tried my best.

What did you do during your growth year(s) and what did you learn?

Worked as a research technician.

What are some ways that you take care of your mental health and overall wellbeing?

Knowing personal limits and having an established support network. Sharing my own experience with peers and mentoring juniors in my steps.

What advice do you have for aspiring pre-health students?

Have realistic expectations. Think about what you want 20 or 30 years from now and set goals for yourself. Remember the big picture; do not get bogged down by details. Always be kind to others.

What’s something that you wish you knew when you were in college?

Try to enjoy life the way it is currently.
