Q: Do I need to declare that I am on a pre-medical or pre-dental track?
A: No, there is no formal declaration or application process to be a pre-health student at UConn. If you are a new student or new to your pre-health journey, we do encourage you to first subscribe to our newsletter by completing this quick form or emailing our office at premed_predental@uconn.edu and ask to be added to our distribution list (please note that we can only add UConn email addresses). This is our main method of communicating valuable information about pre-health professional opportunities, events, and resources both on campus and off campus to interested students.
Beginning in the Fall 2025 semester, all current (new and returning) students will be required to complete Foundations for Future Healthcare Professionals: Required Pre-Med, Pre-Dental, and Pre-PA Modules in HuskyCT before they are able to schedule individual advising appointments. Click here or log into HuskyCT and scroll down to the “Self-Enroll Courses and Organizations for Students” section to self-enroll in the Foundations for Future Healthcare Professionals: Required Pre-Med, Pre-Dental, and Pre-PA Modules to get started.
We also encourage you to follow us on Instagram! Find us @uconn_premed_predental
Q: How do I meet with an advisor from the Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental Advising Office?
A: To meet with an advisor from our office, please follow the steps listed on our Make an Appointment page. To learn about the advisors in our office, look at our Advisor Profiles page. When we are in-person, you are welcome to drop-in to our office at any time.
Q: Do I meet with the same advisor every time?
A: No, it is not required that you meet with the same advisor ever time you have a pre-health advising appointment. At the moment, we do not assign each pre-health student a specific advisor – you are welcome to meet with any of our advising staff that match your availability.
Q: Are there any workshops I can watch to help me with the application process?
A: Yes! Each application cycle we hold a range of workshops to aide our applicants throughout the process. Recordings of our most recent workshops can all be found on our website here.
Q: Can I connect with a peer advisor?
A: Yes! Our office has a team of Health Professions Peer Advisors that host drop-in hours and are available to answer questions in the fall and spring semesters. You can also view our peer advisors’ blog here!
Q: Can I connect with any UConn alumni?
A: Yes! Our office is in the process of growing our alumni network and allowing current undergraduate students the opportunity to connect with alumni that have successfully matriculated to medical or dental school. Check our website here and our newsletter regularly for updated information about these offerings.
You are also welcome to watch recordings of events from our Chat with Alumni Series, posted on our website here.
