Why did you choose to pursue a career in healthcare?
When considering my characteristics, my skill set, and the type of impact I wanted to have on my local community, a career in medicine made the most sense.
What are some meaningful extracurricular activities that you were involved in while at UConn?
UConn Albanian Student Association, UConn John and Valerie Rowe Scholars Program, and UConn Medical Humanitarian Society.
What were some challenges you have faced along your healthcare journey so far, and how have you overcome them?
Difficult first year at UConn due to working full time and going to school full time. Overcame the challenge by speaking to trusted advisors and working daily on time management skills.
What did you do during your growth year(s) and what did you learn?
Participated in research at the National Institutes of Health and Yale School of Medicine.
What are some ways that you take care of your mental health and overall wellbeing?
One day off per week to be with family and friends, and participate in hobbies.
What advice do you have for aspiring pre-health students?
Do your research and make sure that this is the right career field for you. Not your family, not for Instagram, but for you! It is an absolutely rewarding career field for those that have a genuine interest in it.
What’s something that you wish you knew when you were in college?
Balance is key. Participate in a healthy amount of hobbies while prioritizing your academics.
