My name is Hailey (she/her), and I am a senior from Ridgefield, CT, majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology and minoring in Healthcare Management and Insurance Studies. I am on the pre-medical track and am both an Honors Scholar and STEM Scholar.

During my undergraduate career, research has been one of the most integral and transformative parts of my experience—it has allowed me to discover my passions and pursue creative projects that truly excite me. In Dr. Nyholm’s Lab, I conduct microbiology research on host-microbe interactions, working toward the development of novel antibiotics. In Dr. Park’s Psychology Lab, I study the intersection between spirituality, religion, and health, exploring how these dimensions impact health and human flourishing. In addition to conducting research, I serve as a Peer Research Ambassador through the Office of Undergraduate Research, mentoring students as they navigate the process of finding and shaping their own research opportunities.

Beyond research, I serve as Vice President of Pre-Medical Society and a Microbiology TA. I’ve also had a range of clinical experiences, from working as a medical assistant with diverse religious communities to volunteering on a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic—all of which have fueled my passion for addressing healthcare inequities and advocating for culturally competent care. These are areas I am extremely passionate about and hope to continue working on throughout my future career.

Outside of academics, I love exploring new coffee shops, going on walks, watching the sunset, and I’ve recently gotten into running. As the first in my family to pursue medicine, I know how overwhelming the process can feel—especially navigating what feels like foreign territory. I am super excited for this upcoming year and hope to serve as a source of encouragement and guidance for students, helping them find opportunities, build confidence, and feel empowered as they navigate this journey!
