Why did you choose to pursue a career in healthcare?

I initially became interested in healthcare when I fell in love with human biology in high school. Eventually I realized that medicine combines my love for physiology with my desire to work closely with others and help people in a meaningful way.

What were some meaningful extracurricular activities that you were involved in while at UConn?

HuskyTHON, Greek life, and being a peer mentor.

What did you do during your growth year(s) and what did you learn?

I took one year after college during which I lived at home and worked as a scribe in an emergency department. I learned so much about medicine and worked with so many amazing providers, and it confirmed my desire to become a physician.

What are some ways that you take care of your mental health and overall wellbeing?

Studying a little bit every day, taking scheduled breaks and days off, and making time for things that I enjoy like seeing friends, reading a book, or cooking a meal with my friends.

What advice do you have for aspiring pre-health students?

Take time to do things you enjoy before rushing off to more schooling. Medicine will always be there, and your experiences will help you along the way. If you really want it, don’t let anyone stop you!!
